Sarah Teather is campaigning to improve local tube services

Commenting on the tube fare increase announced yesterday Sara Teather, Liberal Democrat candidate for the Brent East by-election, said:

"No fare increase will be welcomed by passengers, especially as we have some of the most expensive local transport in the world. This only rubs salt into the wounds of local residents who have recently had to use a replacement bus service at the weekend.

"Ken Livingstone still lives here, so it surprises me that he thinks it is acceptable for Brent East residents to have to pay £4.40 to go into central London and back.

"Years of neglect by Tory and Labour governments are clearly taking a toll on our tube network."
