The Lib Dems are the only serious challenges to Labour in Brent East

Conservative by-election candidate Uma Fernandes has again written off Tory chances in the Brent East by-election.

Last month in the Daily Telegraph, Mrs Fernandes said that she was hoping to find a 'a better seat' than Brent East at the next election. Now speaking in The Times, she described Brent East a 'safe Labour seat' and said that thoughts of winning were in 'cuckoo land'.

Local Lib Dem campaigner Sarah Teather said, "There is no such thing as a safe seat. We believe we can win here and the messages of support that we have received from local people suggest that local people think the same!"

Many former Conservative supporters are now switching to the Lib Dems saying that the Lib Dems are only challengers to Labour in our area.
