Brent residents are backing Lib Dem plans to crack down on crime in our area. Hundreds of local people have signed a Lib Dem petition calling for more Police on patrol. Plans to improve street lighting and improve the use of CCTV have also been given widespread support.

Local campaigner Sarah Teather said, "Local people are fed up with crime and anti-social behaviour in our area. Labour have had over six years in power, but they have failed to tackle the problems."

Sarah continued, "A recent survey of residents showed that many people are living in fear of crime. Action is needed and an early priority must be more Police actually on patrol in the Brent area."

Broken Promises

When Labour came to power back in 1997, they promised to tackle crime which had shot up under the Conservatives. Yet the number of Police Officers actually fell for the first three years of Labour Government and violent crime has continued to rise.

Sarah Teather added, "Brent people know better than to trust Labour's words on crime now. They want to see real action."
