Rubbish is dumped around Neasden centre

Sarah Teather, MP for Brent East, last Thursday joined Brent Neighbourhood Watch in a visit to Neasden shopping centre. The local Liberal Democrat MP had been invited by Brent Neighbourhood Watch to tour the shopping centre with them to highlight the problems in the area.

Many local residents are becoming increasingly concerned about the run down nature of the shopping centre and the level of cleanliness on the streets and alleyways.

Sarah Teather MP said:

"The state of Neasden Shopping Centre is a real concern for residents and traders. The area is over-run with pubs and nightclubs and it looks rundown. There is also a real problem in the alleyways behind the shopping centre where dumped rubbish is a health hazard. It is as if Neasden has been forgotten.

"No-one will take responsibility for the rubbish in alleyways because much of it is dumped on private land. However, the Council can provide funding for gates for local residents to prevent the problem occurring in the first place.

" I have written to the Council to ask them to look into regeneration in Neasden. The Council needs to work with local residents and businesses to improve the area."
