Teather welcomes scrutiny decision on Dollis Hill House

11.54.39am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 8th Jan 2004

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has today welcomed the decision of a Council scrutiny committee to send the decision to demolish Dollis Hill House back to the Council's executive for a re-think.

Following the Labour Executive's decision to demolish Dollis Hill House last month, Liberal Democrat Councillors backed calls for the decision to be 'called in' for scrutiny. At the scrutiny meeting last night it was decided to send the decision back to the executive.

Commenting on the decision local MP Sarah Teather said:

"I welcome the decision of the scrutiny meeting. We cannot allow part of Brent's heritage to be disregarded. Dollis Hill House Trust must be given more time in order to submit their bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund. I hope that the Council will decide to allow the possibility of investigating other forms of funding, so that a historic feature of Brent can be restored to former glories."
