Sarah Teather and Ed Davey MP are campaigning to 'Axe The Tax'

Local MP Sarah Teather has today backed the launch of the Liberal Democrats national campaign to scrap the Council Tax and replace it with a fairer alternative based on an ability to pay.

Commenting on the launch of the campaign, Local MP Sarah Teather said:

"It is time for this hated tax to go. It is an unfair tax introduced by the Conservatives and made worse under Labour.

"The Liberal Democrats believe it should be replaced with a fairer local income tax based on ability to pay."
