Teather Condems Kilroy Comments

2.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 8th Jan 2004

Sarah Teather MP for Brent East has today condemned the comments made by television presenter Robert Kilroy-Silk in his article for the Sunday Express in which he made insulting comments towards Arabs.

Commenting on Mr Kilroy-Silk's article Liberal Democrat MP, Sarah Teather said:

"Mr Kilroy-Silk's comments were monumentally stupid and deeply offensive. As someone who represents such a diverse community as Brent I find these comments ill-judged and ill-placed.

"Mr Kilroy-Silk must apologise for his offensive comments that have deeply disturbed the Muslim community. The Muslim faith is a major part of our community not just in Brent but across Britain. Comments like these do a disservice to the multi-cultural society that we live in."
