Labour are letting down local pupils says Sarah

Sarah Teather, Liberal Democrat Spokeswoman for London, has today revealed Government figures which show that Brent's schoolchildren are being educated in over 70 temporary classrooms throughout the borough while there is a repair backlog of over £33.5 million.

Sarah Teather MP said:

"After eight years of a Labour government, huge numbers of Brent parents still feel that local secondary schools let their children down, despite teachers' best efforts.

"These figures show partly why - how can the presence of a temporary or run-down classroom inspire parents to send their children to that school? Given the link between results and the physical state of a school, Labour has a duty to the borough's children to educate them in a proper environment, not a temporary one."
