Brent's local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather joined her constituents in bidding farewell to outgoing Pakistani High Commissioner Dr. Maleeha Lodhi.
Dr. Lodhi has visited Brent many times during her appointment to the UK, and has enjoyed a strong relationship with members of Brent's Pakistani community. Her goodbye party was hosted by Brent Mosque on Chichele Road in Cricklewood.
Time Magazine has cited Dr. Lodhi as one of 100 global pacesetters and leaders who will define the 21st century. She was the only person from Pakistan on the list.
Local Brent East Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:
"I was very sorry to hear that Dr. Lodhi will be returning home soon. She has been a terrific ambassador for her country and will be very much missed by Brent's Pakistani community.
"Dr. Lodhi is a truly inspirational person and a fantastic role model for women both here in the UK and in Pakistan. On behalf of the whole community I would like to warmly thank her for all of her work for Brent
"We now look forward to welcoming Dr. Lodhi's successor, who has an extremely hard act to follow."
