Despite Labour's Home Secretary having admitted that she doesn't feel safe on London's streets at night, the Metropolitan Police have been looking at closing both Willesden Green and Harlesden local police stations in Brent, to be replaced with one centralised base.
However, the Metropolitan Police Authority has now admitted that the original consultation process had been flawed, and that people should be given another chance to express their views.
"It's great news that our local police stations have been given a temporary reprieve. I often walk past the Willesden Green station late at night so I understand how much safer a police presence can make you feel.
"Now we have an opportunity to step up the campaign and make sure that the Metropolitan Police understand just how much our community values local policing. Our policemen and women need to be based in the area so they have local knowledge and expertise.
"Any further consultation must be much better publicised. Crime is a top priority for Brent residents and it is only right that people have a say."
