Local MP Sarah Teather is urging young people in Brent to use their vote

Local Brent East Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has visited Copland Community School in Wembley to debate the issues of the day with local politics students.

Sarah and the students discussed a wide range of topics, including the war in Iraq and the forthcoming general election.

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East, Sarah Teather, said:

"It's great to see young people in Brent engaging with politics and the democratic process, and to meet students with such strong and passionate views about the world.

"I got involved with politics because I wanted to stand up for ordinary people and campaign for change, and I hope that these young people will think about doing the same.

"So many young people are facing an uncertain future right now thanks to Labour's university tuition fees and the state of the economy. Brent is going to see a really close fight at the general election this year, and it's really important that young people who might be eligible for the first time get out and use their vote."
